L539 Materials Evaluation Paper 
Choose one of the instructional materials provided (in Assignments folder). As an alternative, you may suggest materials that you are currently use [scan the pages to be evaluated and send them to Dr. Samuelson to be approved]. Critically evaluate the materials on the basis of their coherent use of language principles we have covered in this course. You can ask the following questions: • What are the aims of the materials? How might they be used to develop students’ language abilities? • What linguistic features do the materials address (e.g. phonemic awareness, phonics, syntax, and/or morphology)? • What underlying assumptions or views of language or language learning are identifiable in the materials? Draw upon the class readings for evidence or non-evidence of these assumptions. • What are the strengths and weaknesses of the materials and how could they be improved?
