12 rubric Persuasive Speech       popup preview
Because public speaking is so important to macro social work practice, you each will present a formal speech (no more than 3 minutes) to your class mates to practice these skills. Your speech should be persuasive in nature: motivation (trying to get your colleagues to do something about a community issue), a proposition (where you propose a solution to a community challenge and try to gain support), testimony (as if you were appearing before a committee with decision making power that would impact a community) or another persuasive focus that fits into community practice. No power point or visual aids should be used, as the focus is on your speech, what you say and how you say it
